My Mom came down over the 4th, that is part of the reason the kids love the 4th. Grandma always comes to visit. On Sunday there were no festivities so she took the boys to Bluff Fort to explore some of the pioneer history surrounding this area.
The kids had a blast, In Bluff there is the "first" settlement of pioneers in San Juan county.

Looking at the "forts." My mom said that families of 10+ would live in these little houses. I think we really take for granted the luxuries we have in our lives today. It must have taken a lot more patience and cooperation because sometimes even our 4 bedroom feels small and tempers run high.

This was their favorite part; the cemetery. They liked it because there were lots of fire ant hills and fire ants to chase. Luckily they haven't been bitten but I keep trying to convince them that fire ants do not make good pets.
